Description

The Bean LV, our unlevel mini-edge is the ultimate lightweight, portable training edge designed for climbers who value simplicity and efficiency. Perfect for warming up or training at the crag, it’s a compact solution for those carrying minimal gear. With its sleek design and Dr. Tyler Nelson’s innovative Unlevel Edge, the Bean delivers big performance in a small package.

We’ve been designing a curved version of the unlevel edge to maximise the comfort for the most people. You can adjust your finger position on the edge, depending on your morphology. After dozens of edges, we found these two to be the winner.

Weighing only 47 grams and made from beautiful, durable Portuguese chestnut wood (the lighter edge on the pictures), the Bean is as sturdy as it is elegant, with a smooth, comfortable finish that’s gentle on the skin during extended use.

Since July 2026, we offer a reclaimed wood option (the darker edge on the pictures). If you chose this option, the wood will be reclaimed, either iroko, oak, chestnut, mahogany, meranti or others. We cannot guaranty the exact colour or wood of each piece, just that it is hard wood, good for the job and reclaimed from either old projects, windows or doors.

At the heart of the Bean is the Unlevel Edge, a game-changing feature designed to optimise finger training. Traditional flat edges often cause uneven stress distribution, with middle fingers bearing the brunt of the load. This imbalance can lead to injuries and impede strength development. The Unlevel Edge resolves this by placing each finger on a staggered tier, ensuring even load distribution and aligning fingers into a natural half-crimp position. This design promotes healthier finger joints, balanced strength development, and a reduced risk of injury, while allowing maximal muscular recruitment.

The Bean LV edge has a 20mm and a 15mm depth edges and a variable curved fillet of 3-15mm, providing exceptional comfort and thus improving effectiveness. The Bean LV is designed to suit advanced to elite climbers, offering smaller edges without compromising on the comfort.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, building peak finger strength, or just getting ready for a climbing session, the Bean is an ideal tool for:

•Rehabilitation: A safer training option for climbers recovering from finger injuries.

•Strength Training: Enhancing finger strength in a compact, efficient way.

•Warm-Ups: Ensuring balanced finger engagement before hitting the wall or crag.

Compact, lightweight, and beautifully designed, the Bean makes finger training accessible, wherever your climbing adventures take you.

The Bean LV is design to withstand 100kg in static load. It should hold more, as the rope is giving support to the wooden element and itself is graded to withstand 4 kN in tensil strength.
